Elevating Creativity: English Literature’s Copywriting Workshop 2025

On Saturday, 10 May 2025, the English Literature Sudy Program successfully hosted a Workshop on Copywriting at the Ki Narto Sabdo Building, 2nd floor (Lab. Karawitan). This compulsory course fwas designed for students of Content and Copywriting class, accommodating four classes of English Literature and eight classes of MBKM.
Five lecturers led the program: Prof. Erna Andriyanti, S.S., M.Hum., Ph.D.; Susana Widyastuti S.S., M.A., Ph.D.; Ikha Adhi Wijaya, S.S., M.Hum.; Purwaningtyas Dwi Astuti, M.A.; and Brigitta Sita Oentari, M.Hum. Throughout the workshop, sixth-semester students were equipped with comprehensive insights into the world of copywriting, covering writing techniques, content creation, AI integration and career development.
Session 1: Photography and Videography in Content Creation
The first session featured Oktavianus Widya P. B., a Fine Art Education student at Universitas Negeri Yogyakarta and a Marketing Staff at ARTJOG. Drawing on his experience in photo and video production, he presented materials on “Photography and Videography: Production and Editing.” Oktavianus introduced essential tools and techniques used in visual storytelling, engaging the audience in a dynamic discussion filled with insightful questions.
Session 2: The Power of Words in Copywriting
The second session, led by Susana Widyastuti, S.S., M.A., Ph.D., explored the fundamentals of effective copywriting through two key topics: “Copywriting: Words That Sell” and “Strategies and Formulas for Copywriting.” Students were introduced to proven copywriting techniques such as AIDA (Attention, Interest, Desire, Action), PAS (Problem, Agitate, Solve), FAB (Features, Advantages, Benefits), and BAB (Before, After, Bridge).
The session also covered copywriting approaches, key elements, writing platforms, styles, language techniques, and structural anatomy. To reinforce learning, participants engaged in a hands-on exercise, crafting their own copy for a real-world case study—an activity that not only showcased their enthusiasm but also highlighted their creativity in applying the techniques learned.
Session 3: Copywriting and Digital Marketing in the AI Era
The final session was presented by Vivit Wijayanti A., a copywriter, content specialist, and brand strategist with extensive experience in the industry. She shared invaluable insights on “Copywriting, Digital Marketing, and Social Media,” “Copywriting and AI,” and “Career Opportunities in Content and Copywriting.”
Her expertise expanded students’ understanding of brand communication, demonstrating how AI-driven strategies are shaping the future of content writing. This session served as an eye-opening platform for aspiring copywriters, sparking enthusiasm among participants eager to carve their path in the field.
Despite the intensive schedule, spanning from 8:30 AM to 4:00 PM, students remained fully engaged and motivated, underscoring the growing relevance and appeal of copywriting in the digital age.
