Welcoming the Class of 2026: English Literature UNY Hosts Interactive Academic Orientation

To prepare incoming freshmen for a successful university experience, the English Literature Study Program, Faculty of Language, Arts, and Culture, Universitas Negeri Yogyakarta (UNY), successfully hosted Academic Orientation 2026 on Wednesday, 26 August 2026. The orientation provided freshmen from the Class of 2026 with a comprehensive overview of academic life, degree expectations, and campus involvement opportunities. The event commenced at 13:00 WIB and was officially opened by the Master of Ceremonies, Ibu Dindadari Arum Jati, S.S., M.Hum., who welcomed lecturers, staff, and the enthusiastic new students gathering in the hall.

 

Navigating the Academic Journey: Curriculum 2025 and Regulations

The core session was led by the Coordinator of the English Literature Study Program, Dr. Rachmat Nurcahyo, S.S., M.A. He introduced the newly implemented 2025 Curriculum, detailing course structures, credit distribution, degree requirements, and academic advisement procedures. In his presentation, Dr. Rachmat emphasized the general academic regulations (peraturan akademik) that govern student life at UNY, encouraging freshmen to maintain academic integrity, cultivate proactive learning habits, and actively engage with faculty advisors throughout their studies.

 

Fostering Holistic Development through Student Activity Credits (PEM)

Following the academic overview, the session transitioned to holistic student development. Ibu Brigitta Sita Oentari, M.Hum., representing the Study Program’s Student Affairs Task Force (Satgas Kemahasiswaan Prodi Sasing), presented the socialization of PEM (Penghargaan Ekstrakurikuler Mahasiswa). She explained the significance of extracurricular involvement, detailing how students can earn activity credits through organizational roles, competitions, community service, and academic conference.

 

Active Engagement and Welcome

The study program lecturers and staff were present to address queries and also introduce themselves to the new cohort. The event concluded smoothly at 15:00 WIB. With the completion of Academic Orientation 2026, the Class of 2026 freshmen are officially welcomed into the English Literature UNY academic community. (Brigitta)
