FBSB - Karangmalang The English Literature Department of FBSB UNY held a workshop on translating children’s literature in September 2023. The opening session was on Friday, September 1, 2023. The team of lecturers consisted of Donald Jupply, S.S., M.Hum., Susana Widyastuti, S.S., M.A., Ph.D., and Dr. Andy Bayu Nugroho, SS., M.Hum. consecutively presented materials in translation on picture books. The presentations were followed by a question-and-answer session, group distribution, and technical briefing. A total of 25 students were divided into 8 smaller groups of 3 to 4 students. The groups were assisted by the mentors and the team of lecturers to read and select texts to be translated.

The second session was on Friday, September 8, 2023. The session started with a technical briefing before continuing to the progress presentation. Each group reported their progress between the first and second weeks of the workshop. This second session focused on continuing the translating practice with the help of the mentors. The last session was on Friday, September 15, 2023. Started with a technical briefing, the session continued with a review and feedback from the mentors, project finalization, and the last presentation from the students. The workshop produced four bilingual books titled Cookies (Biskuit), Crayon the Castle (Mewarnai Istana), Melodious Melody (Suara Bagus Melodi), and It’s Mother’s Day! (Selamat Hari Ibu!).
