Double Triumph: English Literature UNY Students Shine at Pemilihan Duta Bahasa D.I. Yogyakarta 2026

YOGYAKARTA — The English Literature Study Program, Faculty of Language, Arts, and Culture, Universitas Negeri Yogyakarta (UNY), is immensely proud to announce the outstanding achievements of two of its students at the highly prestigious Pemilihan Duta Bahasa (Language Ambassador) Province of Daerah Istimewa Yogyakarta 2026.
Organized annually by the Balai Bahasa D.I. Yogyakarta, this competition gathers the brightest young minds across the province to serve as advocates for linguistic excellence, cultural preservation, and literacy. This year, the English Literature program was brilliantly represented by two exceptional students who brought home top honors.

Najwa Hanifatul Arafah (Class of 2023) secured the remarkable title of 2nd Place Winner (Pemenang II) in the Female Category. Reaching the top tier of this fiercely competitive provincial event is a massive testament to her dedication, eloquence, and poise. Najwa has consistently demonstrated not only a deep proficiency in language but also a profound commitment to being a cultural ambassador for Yogyakarta. Her victory on this stage reflects the high ability of students nurtured within the English Literature Study Program.

Adding to the program's immense pride is Najwa Alawiyah (Class of 2025), who earned a highly coveted spot as a Top 20 Finalist. Accomplishing this milestone as a second-semester freshman is a phenomenal feat. Her early success highlights the immense talent, courage, and potential within our newer cohorts. Najwa Alawiyah has proven that she is a rising star, bringing grace and distinction to the program at the very beginning of her academic journey.
These dual achievements perfectly underscore the philosophy of the English Literature Study Program: our students are not merely academic scholars, but active, passionate cultural advocates who make real-world impacts.
