Community Service Program: Link and Match between UNY and RRI PRO 2 in Formulating Guidelines for Text Structure and Filler Language Feature

Caturtunggal — Sleman The radio station Radio Republik Indonesia (RRI) Pro 2 Yogyakarta serves as a vital source of educational information and entertainment tailored for the young generation, aligning with the ongoing demographic bonus in Indonesia. By 2045, Indonesia is projected to be dominated by the productive age group, largely represented by young individuals known for their creativity and innovation. Language serves as a symbol and identity for this demographic to actualize, innovate, and preserve their existence. Thus, addressing this issue and as part of a community service initiative, the PKM DLK team from the English Literature Study Program at FBSB UNY crafted checklist guidelines to regulate the quality of content produced at RRI Pro 2 Yogyakarta.

Led by Dr. Andy Bayu Nugroho, SS., M.Hum., Donald Jupply, S.S., M.Hum., Yosa Abduh Alzuhdy, S.S., M.Hum., and Ikha Adhi Wijaya, S.S., M.Hum., the project spanned from March to August 2023. Key activities included Focused Group Discussions and Workshops held at RRI Pro 2 on Jalan Affandi, Mrican, Catur Tunggal, Depok Sleman. The Focused Group Discussion on Friday, 28 July 2023 aimed to align the perceptions of the RRI Pro 2 team as practitioners and the PKM DLK team FBSB UNY as academics. RRI Pro 2 Yogyakarta, as a broadcasting platform, upholds the communication principle that language diversity among the target audience is vital for maintaining relations between RRI Pro 2 and the community.

On the other hand, the workshops on Monday, 7 August 2023 discussed the linguistic features that are pertinent to the characteristics of adolescent language and text structure in filler content. The outcomes of these workshops laid the groundwork for collaborative efforts between the PKM UNY and RRI teams in formulating guidelines for language diversity and text structure in filler content. With these guidelines in place, it is anticipated that RRI Pro 2 will emerge as a formidable youth radio station in Yogyakarta and its surroundings, enabling it to compete effectively with private radio stations targeting similar audiences and leveraging Indonesia's demographic bonus in 2045.
