Bridging Classroom to Community: UNY English Literature Students Empower Magelang Youth with Digital Copywriting Workshop
Primary tabs

MAGELANG — Demonstrating the real-world value of academic learning, three English Literature students from Universitas Negeri Yogyakarta (UNY), Affrendi Kurniawan, Muhammad Bayu Fajrunnaqi Bayu Panunjung, and Rasti Eka Fiani, successfully turned their coursework into a high-impact community program in Dusun Kranggan, Banyurojo, Magelang.
Operating under KKN Mandiri Team 34013, the undergraduates hosted a interactive digital skills workshop titled "Pelatihan Konten Kreator & Basic Copywriting" on Saturday evening, September 12, 2026, at the Kranggan Community Hall. The event gathered over 20 members of the local youth organization (Karang Taruna Putro Manunggal) alongside Dusun Head Bapak Affandi.

Transforming Academic Knowledge into Community Impact
The initiative answered a pre-deployment request from Karang Taruna leader Mas Krisna, who recognized social media production as a legitimate economic opportunity for local youth, and a constructive alternative to harmful digital distractions like online gambling (judol).
To deliver actionable training, the English Literature students drew directly from their previous semester’s Content and Copywriting course. To complement academic theory with practical industry proof, the team partnered with popular local content creator Aishairaa as a co-speaker.

Copywriting Frameworks and Search Mechanics
During his session, Affrendi Kurniawan shared BPS statistics on Indonesia’s creator economy, detailed personal branding strategies, and taught core copywriting formulas, emphasizing attention-grabbing Hooks, clear Content Bodies, and effective Calls-to-Action (CTA) alongside keyword optimization for algorithmic reach (FYP).
Platform Strategies and Monetization
In addition, the Guest speaker Aishairaa broke down tactical differences between Instagram and TikTok, shared revenue channels for creators, and analyzed real case studies of her own viral videos.
Community Support and Recognition
Bapak Affandi commended the practical focus of the workshop, remarking, "This is a very beneficial initiative because content is everywhere now. Even I frequently share quick updates on WhatsApp status."
Karang Taruna Leader, Mas Krisna, added, "We deeply appreciate the UNY KKN team for organizing such a valuable session and bringing an active creator to mentor our youth."

This initiative marks a milestone for the UNY English Literature Study Program, reinforcing its commitment to equipping students with market-relevant communication skills that meaningfully benefit society. (Brigitta)
