The topic of this course is focusing on using literature in teacher training towards the importance and response of the democracy structure in sustainable development in school. As a tool in encouraging critical thinking, and discussions about several important social issues, literature is holding a strong position in reaching the goal through subtle voice. In order to reach the goals of this course, the use of binational, interlevel, and interdisciplinary collaboration will be held.
This course upholds the importance of an action-based learning cycle. In collaboration with partner university Münster University, the understanding of multilingual discourse is necessity for participation in the underlying contribution of fostering democratic environment. The series of this course will be held in hybrid and face to face activity with partnership schools both in Yogyakarta and Münster. The first term of the binational working group will be placed in Yogyakarta, Indonesia during 11 October 2025 -25 October 2025. Mobility and residence scholarships will be awarded with a selection process.
The event is part of the binational DAAD project “Democracy, Environmental Education & Discursive Participation (DEEP)” and is open to all degree programmes, all levels of university students and also educators that participate in facilitating learning activities. This course is held by the Center for Children’s Literature and Language Education under Universitas Negeri Yogyakarta for an extra-curricular program. Enrollment and full participation will be credited and prospected for the second term of the binational mobility selection process.
