A Series of Talk on Children’s Literature with Laura Apol

FBSB Karangmalang — In collaboration with the Center for Children's Literature and Literacy Education (CCLLE UNY), the English Literature Study Program held a series of talks on Children’s Literature II with the theme “Using Children’s Literature in Indonesian Higher Education Classroom.” Laura Apol, an associate professor at Michigan State University, and Tri Sugiarto, a lecturer in the English Literature Study Program and doctoral student at Michigan State University, became the main speakers of this talk. The participants were undergraduate and master’s students pursuing language, arts, literature, and teacher education programs.
The talk was divided into two sessions. The first session was conducted on Tuesday, July 4, 2023. The main topic of this session is “Grounding Literacy Instruction through Engagement with Authentic Children’s Literature.” The second one was conducted on Thursday, July 6, 2023. The main topic of this session was “Interculturalism and Children’s Literature.” Both sessions were held consecutively in Ruang Seminar GK 1 Lt. 2 FBSB UNY and through Zoom Meetings. This talk was part of Laura Apol’s encouragement and support as an expert in children’s literature to strengthen the core of children’s literature in higher education in Indonesia.
