Participated in Global South-South Development (GSSD) Expo 2018

Launched in 2008, the Global South-South Development Expo (GSSD Expo) is an annual global event organized by the United Nations Office for South-South Cooperation (UNOSSC) in its capacity as the General Assembly-mandated global and United Nations system-wide coordinator and facilitator for South-South cooperation, with full UN system-wide support and participation of all UN specialized agencies and programs as well as strong support and partnership of other inter-governmental organizations and entities of the South.

Nur Choriroh from English Literature was invited by the UNOSSC and the ILO as representatives of young people and students to give presentations regarding the good practice that she have done related to increasing youth awareness about the importance of knowing potential hazards in the workplace, prevention of workplace accidents and occupational illnesses titled ILO SafeYouth@Work Action Plan. She had the opportunity to speak on floor interaction on November 28 on the GSSD Expo 2018 agenda entitled Thematic Solution Forum 4: High-level Panel and Thematic Solution Forum on Promoting Youth Entrepreneurship for SGDs.

Choriroh felt honor to have the opportunity to speak in front of the forum and apply the knowledge that she have learned in English literature especially in Speaking Class and Introduction to American Studies. I tried to networking with other participants, learned the atmosphere of work ethic inside the UN, sharing knowledge from other participants and also several UN Agencies. She was pleased to see the UN Secretary-General and introduce her to the Secretary-General of UNOSSC. Besides she had the opportunity to meet with one of the delegates from the Director General of the South-South Cooperation of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia. She also had the opportunity to understand some cultures of America. More than that, she felt very thankful for the support that she got from the campus and I was proud to be able to come there as an UNY student, I hoped my experience could be a provision for the next level.
